I read a story the other day about a company that was hit with a ransomware virus and all their data was encrypted. Because they didn’t have consistent backups, they had to pay the ransom to get their data back.
One thing I cannot stress enough is the importance of backing up your personal or company data. I believe in the rule that any data that is important enough to back up should be kept in at least two other locations. Anything can happen in the blink of an eye; hard drive failure, virus infection or ransomware encrypting all your files, or even a fire in your office building.
